Object Description Gaagaashaadibe Joe Broad drew this makwa (bear) doodem when he was in Washington DC in February 1908. He was a member of the Mille Lacs and White Earth Anishinaabeg. Collected by Frances Densmore. Part of David I Bushnell, Jr. collection. Written on verso: "Gah-gah-siu-di-bay(?) Joe Broad. (Small head) grandson of Me-sing-un(?). Bear Totem. Mille Lac. Mississippi band Ojibways now at White Earth. Washington, Feb. 1908."
