Object Description
Professional educational film about the mounds found in along Ohio and Mississippi rivers. Strives to answer the questions who built them, how and why. First part of film (15 min) talks about the history of theories about moundbuilders, using reenactments, quoting from historic papers, to reconstruct the experience of people who explored the mounds and excavated in the 19th century, and how prejudice against Indians led to myths about the moundbuilders. Following section consists of footage and interviews with present day archeologists about their work on mound excavation and their discovers about two groups of moundbuilders (the Hopewell and the Mississippian). color, sound, 31 min.
