Object Description Written on photograph (verso): "No 3 Aug. 31st 1910. / Exploration of the Delaware Valley / under direction of Prof. F. W. Putnam for / Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology / Cambridge Mass. by Ernest Volk. / View looking west, showing the same exposure as / No 1 Y No 2 of this date. The stone in the view is a boulder / found near the surface, some water so over and 1 1/2 f. long / 9 inch broad and six inch thick, whitish quartzite. / The exposure in the distance is the place where 4 feet of / yellow loam was found under six inch of black soil / and where the natural and artificial pits were located. / Behnd which appears R.R. and River View Cemetery in the / distance."
