Object Description
Buffalo horn spoon (bowl slightly damaged): zoomorphic handle carved in the shape of a bird's head & neck; eyes representing inlaid trade beads; neck bent by steaming. LENGTH: 16.3 cm WITDH (AT WIDEST POINT OF BOWL): 7.6 cm; Buffalo horn spoon, possibly Sitting Bull's. Bowl slightly damaged; handle carved as bird's head & neck: Translucent; Underneath scoop shows signs of deteriorization; Edges are shaped and smooth with (1) niche; Handle is dark brown with bird's head carved towards scoop; Head is carved as far as neck and inlaid with white beads for eyes; Bead is also carved; Condition: Good. Acc. # and Cat. # are written in black ink on underside of scoop near edge.
