Object Description
Ivory sled and driver with eight dogs mounted on walrus tusk. Female driver wears parka trimmed in seal fur, leather belt, and has painted black hair, facial features, and detailing on mukluks. Ivory sled contains soft bundles wrapped in brown leather. Two brownish-red dogs, two brown dogs, and four white dogs are attached to the sled and each other by black leather harnesses. All dogs have black detailing on feet and faces and red interior mouths with protruding tongues. At the narrow end of the tusk the dogs run between two rails of baleen attached by means of ivory hooks on tusk. A brown oar and another unidentified object (perhaps a club:at) are attached to the tusk on either side of the sled. The tusk itself has scrimshaw scenes on both sides depicting whales, walruses, and icebergs. Tusk has brown support post to hold it upright.
