Object Description
Textile fragment: Patch used as applique on tunics woven in slit tapestry. Double-headed bird motif in blue (z-2s), green (s), brown (z), tan (s) cotton, gold (z), red (z-2s) camelid, on white cotton ground (z-pairs). One area of outline and warp wrapping is blue and brown bichrome yarn. Design: two bird heads in profile, gold beaks, red, gold rays on concentric semi-circle shape; sits on striped triangular base with row of concentric squares. Red, gold tassels (woven fringe?) "suspended" from base of triangles. Warps cut. Reverse unfinished. Two weft selvages. Warp: white cotton, (z), 7 epcm.
