Descriptions
Object Description
Small bone spoon with an oblong concave bowl. The neck of the utensil is decorated on both sides with a recessed geometric design that is filled in with a matte, black pigment. The long handle tapers to a flattened point. Note: The Embark description originally identified this material as ivory but it does not exhibit any of the morphological characteristics of elephant ivory. Under magnification it shows traces of the short striations, shallow channels and cracqelure pattern that are diagnostic for bone.
Peabody Number is painted on object with black paint.
