Object Description
Tapa cloth. Siapo tasina (?) Cloth is very embrittled. Cloth appears to be one (or two) layers with overlapping joins. Side edges are pinched (zigzag) with straight-cut top and bottom edges. Reddish brown matte pigment/dye rubbed with a design tablet and additional fine linear freehand painting in a resinous brown black paint; there are a few small circular/oval motifs also in black paint. Top and bottom have a fine black freehand painted line; the outer perimeter of raw finished side edges is undecorated but at the inner area of the pinched raw edge, there is a fine line of black paint (to complete the overall geometric design).
