Object Description
Tapa cloth. Siapo tasina. Medium-weight two layer cloth with decoration primarily on one side. Grain direction is lengthwise on face and rear. Overlapping pasted joins. Three edges are straight cut with the lower edge, cut fringes. Cloth was rubbed over a leaf design tablet in a matte reddish-brown paint with additional freehand painting in a glossy black paint; black lines at the edges, narrow lines in cross-shape and for solid circle motifs and half-moon motifs.
