Descriptions
Object Description
Boy's beaded vest, worn on special occasions such as parades or dances. Constructed out of native tanned skin with hide thong ties along the center front opening. The front and back outer surfaces of the hide are covered with rows of glass seed beading in the lazy stitch technique. The design includes blue, red, orange, and green geometric designs on a panel of white beads. Fully decorated with small "seed beads", this vest features crosses and a design which has been interpreted by some scholars as a stylized war horse. On the inside of the vest, the surface of the skin exhibits yellow ink outlines depicting geometric motif design sketches.
