Archival Scope and Content
The papers of Hallam Leonard Movius, Jr. (HLM) comprise materials relating to the professional life of the Harvard instructor and archaeologist, dating back to his earliest research and field notes as a Harvard undergraduate, through his prolific career, to correspondence with colleagues and former students in his later retirement years. Much of the collection reflects the archaeological work carried out by HLM in his later career and retirement. Documents include publications, correspondence, reports, memoranda, and photographs. In addition to work directly related to Movius’s research and personal life, this collection contains a small portion of correspondence to and from George Grant MacCurdy. There is also a significant collection of documents including correspondence, meeting agendas, and proposals for the American School of Prehist
