Object Description
Written on board: "Titus County, Texas. 34-119. / Russell Bros. farm. 4 mi. S.W. of Cason. / These effigy handles are so conventionalized that often one cannot tell what fowl was intended to be represented. Like practically all effigy vessels from East Texas, this one has three trailed or grooved lines around the vessel connecting the head and tail of the figure and representing the body of the bird. (Holmes in 20th An. Rep. of B.A.E.) / Height (to rim) 1 3/4"; diameter (extreme) 6". / Bowls of this type are rare, probably derived from the effigy type. / Gift of J. E. Pearce, Chairman of Department of Anthropology, University of Texas."
