Written on board: "New Jersey. / No. 1 / Long view of B & O R.R. Cut, showing Darley's Bridge & Carpenter's Station in distance. The white line (lower edge) shows how the aqueos deposits rest on the decomposed schist. Above the upper edge of white line is red gravel and brick clay. / [verso] Received Dec. 19, 1888, Peabody Museum."
