Written on board: "New Jersey. / Former Site of Rock Shelter below Carpenter Station. B and Ohio RR cut. This section shows the Laurentian rock an out cropping of which formed the shelter -- This spot covered by a thick wood of oak and beech lumber-- about 1/2 mile below Indian Field (toward Philedelphia). / No. 6 / [verso] Recieved Dec. 19, 1888. Peabody Museum."
