Object Description Written on mount: "Photograph No. 1 Showing position of quartz implement No. 47447. Photograph made by Prof. I. McGee, U.S. Geological Survey 8/89 Columbian Deposits near Carpenter station, B & Ohio RR, cut below Darley's Rd. Spot near stake shows position of paleolith found by Wm H. Holmes of Bureau of Ethnology. Implement protruded from a gulley, made by water from above washing down the sides of bank. This photograph shows the paleolith replaced in position and photographed the day after Mr. Holmes discovered it. At the time of discovery the sun was too low down on horizon for successful use of camera.
