Written on board: "Illinois. / Cup found at depth of 8ft. resting in an inverted position upon the top of a skull. It was taken from a rounded tumulus one of a group situated upon a high ridge overlooking the Mississippi R. near Albany, Ill. / P.R. Hoyler. Racine, Wisc."
