Descriptions
Object Description
Written on board: "34-119. Texas. Cass County. Foode Hunt (negro) farm, on Kite Creek, 8 mis. west of Atlanta, Cass County- Large earthenware pipe found on right shoulder accompanying burial 1-1 at a depth of 19". Open end of bowl toward chin, with stem pointing away from skull. Large stem hole extends upward in stem for 3/4"; at which point the diameter of the hole abruptly changes to about 1/8". Crudely made. Too(?) decoration. Much of surface polish has been removed by chemical action of the soil. For use with auxiliary stem. Slight ridge, or protrusion at base of bowl. Bowl bears a resemblence to the cone-shaped pipe bowls from certain sites in Anderson County but the stem of this specimen is totally different from those in Anderson County. Full size.
