Object Description
Written on board: "Upshur County, Texas. 34-119. / J. M. Riley farm, 7 mi. E. of Lafayette. Small pot or jar accompanying burial #11 at a depth of 49". Design shows a possible variant of the sun symbol, with the concentric circles incised and then the lines filled with white pigment as an added form of embellishment. The surface is disintegrated in parts (note extreme left, central portions) and exposes the black tempering material - apparently charcoal or lignite. Two suspension holes near rim. / Height 4", diameter 3 3/4". / Gift of J. E. Pearce, Chairman of Department of Anthropology, University of Texas."
