Descriptions
Object Description Written on board: Mexico. Yaxchilan. T. Maler 1897. Yaxchilan. Stela II. back. (verso) The Side of the Gods. Ketsalcoatl (or the high priest of his culture(?)) with a mask before his face, as a diviner, speaking towards the people. T.M. On the small broken piece is the date 1Ymix 19 Xul 9 Ahau 18 Xul which is (?) 4^7 1^2 after. On the front of the stela. Is this the bissextile day? If Xul is the last month, 1 Ymix 19 Xul would be the last day of a year while 2 (?) 20 Yaxkin would begin the next year - unless Uayel came in here. Is there then a trace of an Earlier calendar?
