Object Description Written on board: Yaqui / Arizona / Juana (Amarillas) de Matus / Yaqui. A grand old Lady of Nature, great character and dignity combined. Age at time 85. The most wrinkles I ever drew. / Mariano Matus / Fourth husband. Drawn at Pasqua Village, Tuscon, Arizona, 1940. Cruel spring cacti seemed a fitting background for her stormy and tragic past. She fled as a girl from cruel persecution of the Diaz regime. Note natural "cross on her forehead and Mariano's nose.
