Object Description Written on board: Colorado / Ecuador: Territory of San Miguel / Picture of a chief of the Indios Colorados in the territory of San Miguel (primeval forest between Santo Domingo de los Colorados, province of Pichincha, Ecuador and the river Palenque). The chief is wearing the typical hairdressing of the Colorados, he is very little dressed with self-woven garments, he wears a broad silver bracelet around his right arm and has made a hole in the tip of his nose, wherein he is carrying often a match (top inside) whenever he goes for a raid in the virgin forest.
