Object Description Written on board: "European / 42 / See Over"; printed on card adhered to verso: "Extensive fractures of a skull by a pistol ball. / History: The subject, a woman, was aged 32 years; 24 hours dead. The integuments of the head and body were in their / natural condition. The body was laid with its back upon a table. A small Smith and Wesson's revolving pistol was fired at right / angles sto the head, at a distance of 18 inches, making a wound in its left side. A metallic cartridge was used containing a / concical ball, having a diameter of .22 of an inch, and wighing 29 grains. Autopsy: The ball entered the squamous portion of / the left temporal bone, and was found flattened lodged in the right cerebral hemisphere, not having reached the skull on / the right side.
