Written on board: "35-10 / Gansu / Tibet / Gift of Harrison Forman / The Explorers Club / New York City / A Young Lama carrying / water in Tibetan fashion - in / a big bucket on the back held / in place by a scope which passes / around the shoulders. / It is the custom in Tibet to give / the first-born boy to the church (Buddhist) / He enters the monastery when he is / about 4 or 5 years olf and remains / there for the rest of his life."
