Object Description
Chief blanket, modified second phase. Fine, tighly woven blanket with design of three bands of red with key-meander pattern in blue-black and green separated by two large bands of alternating white and brown-black. Thread count : 5 warp/cm and 20 weft/cm. Weft: red z-spin, s-twist, 2-ply wool; dark blue z-spin wool; green z-spin wool; cream z-spin wool; brown black z-spin wool. Warp: natural z-spin wool. Selvages: sides dark blue z-spin, s-twist, 2-ply remains in places, rest mended with button-hole stitch; top and bottom dark blue z-spin, s-twist, 3-ply cord woven in corners augmented with extra yarn lengths. Mended. Great dye-lot variation in red at one end.
