Descriptions
Object Description
Ceremonial raven belt ornament or bustle, also called "the crow." Made from four different raven skins. Although the carcasses appear to be complete birds, they include only the wings (stuffed with semi-tanned hide and plant fiber) and the heads and beaks (tucked to the inside against the primary waist support). Built from a construction of wooden slats, porcupine quills, rawhide, and horsehair. The birds’ heads are embellished with decorative loops of rawhide, and their tails are asymmetrically trimmed.
