Object Description Textile portion of simple gauze weave brown cotton (z-2s) with interlocking design: birds between fret borders done in bright pink, ochre, yellow camelid (z-2s) in slit tapestry weave on paired warps. About 15 camelid wefts are put in between gauze wefts. Alternately the space between gauze wefts left open. TWo pairs of warps generally left free between small blocks of design, giving fabric a mosaic-like quality on transparent ground. Four selvages.
