Object Description
Bag - 2 ply wool plain weave bluish-green embroidered in stripes with animal, cat & human motifs in squares of yellow, green, red wool. Length 18 cm; width 39 cm. Warp 32 per inch& weft 28 per inch. Bag made from a square piece of 1-1 plainweave dark brown camelid, folded in half and seamed up sides and across to opening except for 14 cm. in the center. The plainweave is almost completely covered with stem stitched embroidery in paired bands of blocks of red, dark brown, yellow ground with figures holding spears, or felines done in contrasting color. Two large tassels of replied camelid; tops covered with cross-knit looping.
