Object Description
Cotton shirt (?) fragment - warp faced plain weave with panel of woolen incorporated tapestry embroidery; many darnings and reweavings: Tunic(?): 2 plainweave natural cotton cloths (warp: s-paird, 18 ppcm.; weft: z-2s, 13 epcm.) seamed together along weft selvages. Spanning this seam is a panel of extra weft patterning resembling slit tapestry on plainweave ground; depicts two pairs of opposed felines, alternate pairs of warp float on surface, serve as foundation for slit tapestry weave. These warps intersect at irregular intervals w/concealed ground wefts; remaining pairs of warps weave 1-1 w/ground wefts forming open mesh on back. Extra wefts: red, green, gold, black(?) camelid (z-2s). One weft selvage.
