Object Description
Tapestry border fragment - monochrome stripes, tab fringe and kelim types; geometric designs; cotton warp, wool weft; colors are brwn, rose-red, yellow & white: Blue-black cloth with all-over pattern of small open squares: white, yellow, red, with colors arranged in interlocking designs. At intervals are diagonal rows of hook figures and two Horizontal bands of the same figure cross cloth in red, yellow, white. Below the lower band, cloth divides into tabs (4.5 cm., width); each tab divides into four red tabs. Slit tapestry with camelid wefts (z-2s, 26 epcm.) on brown cotton warps (z-2s, 6.5 epcm.) Looks like woven equivalent of tie-dyed textile with circle motifs. One warp, two weft selvages.
