Object Description
Ritual Expert's Hat. Conical shaped. Made of raffia in a coiled technique with a single twist between the coils. Covered with red-dyed bark cloth on which are sewn cowrie shells and small brass plates. Crown is decorated with cowries and seeds and topped with a dark and light striped fur tail. Worn on the crown of the head. Ritual hat.
The object is a conical shaped plant fiber hat decorated with fur, shells and copper alloy plates. The internal structure of the hat is made of raffia palm leave fibers in a coiling technique with a single twist between the coils and covered with red-dyed barkcloth. The crown of the hat is covered with fur with a hanging bushy tail. Shells of seeds also hang between the fur and barkcloth.
