Object Description Idiak ekpo mask. Large black stained wood face mask. Features: cheek, lips and forehead are rounded and exaggerated . Round carved eyes and open mouth. Rectangular relief on forehead. Wood string fiber through holes in back (native repair) on crack along left side of face, with pinpoint holes (insect damage?) and brown splotches on left cheek and forehead. Dabs of red paint. Stylized skull surmounts top. Letters resembling "c i" are etched on back of skull. Mask used during mens ancestral spirit association in ekpo ritual.
