Object Description Wooden face mask. Rounded features, big ears, fiber forehead band. Cf. original list in X-file 40-34. Female face mask carved from a single block of dark, dense hardwood with smooth, buffed patina. Facial features are carved in relief, eyes cut through. Above the forehead is attached a plant fiber bundle, crescent shaped, to which human hair has been applied. This wig is attached to the mask with wooden pegs and by fiber elements tied through holes at the perimeter. A metal peg protrudes from a hole at the chin. One metal "tooth" remains out of an original four at the mouth.The are two holes in the underside of the nose. On the reverse side, there are depressions for the nose and eyes of the wearer.
