Object Description
One of pair of Cree child's moccasins dating to early 1900s, of soft medium brown tanned leather cut in the side-sewn style with seams along the length of the outer side and curving around the toe. There is a T seam at the heel and a small rounded tongue cut from the uppers. A narrow binding of the same material shows 3-4 cm around the opening and tongue, and is folded over the edges to bind 7-8 cm inside. Beaded patterns are identical but reversed on the two uppers. The seed beads are uniform in size and very small. A densely designed spray of flowers in red and pink with green foliage covers the front and a related meandering pattern borders the sides and back with flowers in reds and blues with green stems. In excellent condition, apparently unused.
