Object Description
Pair of Iroquois child's soft-soled moccasins constructed of medium brown leather with a T-seam at the heel and the toe gathered onto the vamp with no tongue. A separate 4.5 cm cuff of black velveteen is attached at its top and bottom edges to the shoe. The vamp is backed by a firm leather lining behind the beadwork and the rest of the shoe and the cuff are lined in a brown plain weave fabric. Around the opening a binding of scarlet grosgrain ribbon, 2.25 cm wide, folded over the edge and hand sewn with red thread in a long running stitch. The ends of the ribbon are loose in front and long enough to tie in a bow. 5 cm from the edge of the cuff is a broken line border of diagonal 6-bead lazy stitch in large white and smaller dark blue beads.
