Display Title Beaded whimsey in the shape of a red high heeled boot
Descriptions
Object Description Beaded whimsey in the shape of a high-heeled boot, dating from the late 1800s- early 1900s. Constructed with a front panel of red short pile velveteen and an undecorated back of pink cotton, stitched together at all edges and very firmly stuffed with batting. A separate piece of red velveteen cut as a flared cuff covers the width of the undecorated top of the boot. This cuff, 11.5 cm high, is lined with pink cotton and has a very firm interlining. The top and bottom edges of the cuff are not attached, but the sides are included with the boot seams in a 2 cm fold-over white cotton binding strip. A loop stitch of clear seed beads is sewn to the outer edges leaving most of the binding exposed.
