Descriptions
Object Description
Beaded velveteen pouch with bird and flower motif, flap closure. Narrow rectangular pouch dating to late 1800s, constructed of two pieces of velveteen sewn together. It has a rounded bottom and the back is extended into a short fold-over triangular flap for closure. It is flexible and flat, as there is no stiffening interlining, and there is no binding on the seams or edges. A plain-woven glazed tan cotton lines the dark black-brown short piled velveteen. A fabric tube of lighter brown velveteen is sewn around the opening and extends into the interior of the bag. It is unfinished at the bottom edge and lies open within the outer pouch. The velveteen exterior is well covered with delicate spray floral designs in many subdued colors, with birds among the flowers. Back,[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
