Object Description
Red Spear "Tamba Wulengo" kankurang masquerade headpiece which is the upper part of a larger masquerade; red cotton flannel hood mask with horns, stretched over armature woven from palm fronds; hood is embroidered with hand-stitched cotton thread designs in yellow, white, green, black and blue; eye holes are surrounded by cowrie shells stitched to black cotton fabric; there are also lines of cowrie shells between the eyes, across the brow, diagonally beside the eyes, and up to the crown of the hood; black cotton fabric attaches the bull horns to the hood and runs between the horns and to the crown of the hood; the black fabric is embroidered and has braided cotton fabric in red, black and white stitched on; black fabric and braided cotton runs down the back of the hood; th[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
