Descriptions
Object Description
Canopic jar surmounted with lid in form of falcon-headed Horus
The object is a widemouth, wheel-turned ceramic vessel with lid. The low-fired clay is painted after firing with yellow, red, blue, black slip over a white ground. There remains some faint outline of original decorative motif: vertical brush strokes in dark blue or black. The interior is 3/4 filled with dried/powdered human remains mixed with bits of cellulose fiber and woven textile. The lid is painted similarly - sculpted in form of falcon-headed Horus.
