Fully-quilled wooden box with lid; geometric motif

Object Description
Rectangular bent wood lidded box fully covered on visible portions with decorative quillwork in multicolored and undyed (white) porcupine quills. Lid has geometric design in green, orange, blue, red, pink, yellow, and white quills, with decorative embroidered outlines and cross stitches. Sides of box have bands of colored quills: white, orange, green, red, white, blue, yellow, pink, white. Sides of lid wrapped with thin bark or wood strips, through which colored quills have been interlaced to form geometric shapes. Top edge of lid reinforced with bundle of sweet grass, sewn on with very thin bark strips. Lid lined with glued paper.
Dimensions: height with lid = 17.8 cm, height to rim = 16.8 cm, width = 17.5 cm, depth = 14.4 cm.
