Fully-quilled birch bark basket with lid; beaver and maple leaf motif

Object Description
Round bent birch bark lidded basket fully covered on visible portions with decorative quillwork in green, reddish brown and undyed (natural white) porcupine quills. Green maple leaf and reddish brown beaver against white background on lid, with decorative embroidery stitches (stem stitch, sheaf stitch, elaborated cross stitch) around circumference of top, and also around sides of lid and basket. Rims of basket and lid reinforced with bundles of sweet grass, sewn on with black or green cotton thread. Bundles of sweet grass sewn on with green cotton thread placed at top edge of lid, bottom edge of basket, and on side of basket to act as "lid rest."
Dimensions: height with lid = 6 cm, height to rim = 4.6 cm, diameter = 15.6 cm.
