Object Description
Oval-shaped ornamental (mirror?) backing. Decorated with auspicious symbols of the upside-down bat ("happiness has arrived") and the peach representing longevity. Inside the peach are the Buddhist emblems of the swastika and the lozenge shape. Embroidered in satin stitch with motifs outlined in gold or silver couch-stitching. Inside of backing has writing in Manchu: terms from memorial forms (note from Evelyn S. Rawski and Janet Lee Scott - visiting 12/14/92).
