Object Description
Silk embroidered U. S. Consulate banner. On a white silk banner, U. S. flag and yellow flag with dragon and red ball on it (possibly an early Chinese or Cantonese flag). The poles intersect in the center of a U. S. shield. (Measured facing right edge - bottom half is badly frayed.) On a cardboard roll with #14996. Stamp on roll: "U. S. CONSULATE/SEP 5 1898/CANTON CHINA". <transliteration> (Chinese name). 38 cm. (w) x 37 cm. (l).
