Object Description Written on board: "Dakota Indians (Siouan)"; printed on photograph: "Sitting Bull. Copyright by D. F. Barry, 1885. Bismarck, Dakota."; label on board: "Indian Chief - Sitting Bull (in indian) Tatanka ujatanka. This Indian Chief, Sitting Bull, at the head of all the Indian tribes in and around Dakota, made the last war against the United States, and then he massacrated the the troops under Gen. Custer. At last he surrendered to Major Brotherton the Summer of 1882."
