Object Description
Written on board: "Serpent Mound Park, Adams Co., Ohio. / Peabody Museum Amer. Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. / John Cone Kimball, Photographer, 1887. / 29 -- The same Skeleton as in 28 [2004.29.2262], seen from the left side. / The ash-bed was about 30 ft. in diameter and 4 inches thick and contained fragments of pottery, flint-chips, and burnt materials of various kinds. Under this was a layer of pure clay. This was evidently the skeleton of a man about 6 ft. tall, over whose body the mound was erected."
