Written on board: "Serpent Mound Park, Adams Co., Ohio. / Peabody Museum Amer. Archaeology and Ethnology, Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. / John Cone Kimball, Photographer, 1887. / 24 -- Section of Upper 4 ft. of the Burial-mound, showing portions of two skeletons of bodies which were intrusive burials. / Nine skeletons were found in different portions of the upper part of the mound, some of which were less than a foot below the present surface, and all were instrusive burials, as shown by the disturbance of the earth above them."
