Descriptions
Object Description African carved wood folding chair of very dense wood. Back rest made in two pieces with a carved, interlocking linear design and two cutout sections. Smaller piece has cracked section nearly detached. The back rest is surmounted by two carved, stylized faces atop two curved back rest supports. The chair seat is edged with 10 brass tacks on either side. The end of one of the curved back supports has broken off in the niche into which it slots. There may be a crosswise piece, on which everything hinges for folding, missing.
