Object Description Written on board: Oaxaca, Zapotec. Cat. No. C/8393 Standing figure of a male personage belonging to the category male "companion" with the glyph "C" in his headdress ("Acompañante" Masculino con Glifo "C" en el Tocado) Height: 9". Color: Very dark gray ceramic with vestiges of white pigment. Collected by E.M. Lawton. Acquired 1918. For reference to this category, see Caso & Bernal's "Urnas de Oaxaca," 1952, 119-129. Note: The figure wears a tunic of wadded cotton used as armour and effective protection from indigenes weapons. Note: Vase on back is supported on a slender column of clay.
