Written on board: Oaxaca, Zapotec. Cat. No. C/5910 / Standing Figure of Young Male Personage Wearing the Headdress Dedicated to the God with the Helmet of the Bird with the Broad Beak (Dios con Yelmo de Ave de Pico Ancho) Height: 21". Color: Light gray ceramic with light gray wash. Collection of John R. Hastings. Acquired 1912. Young man clad in a tunic made of heavily wadded cotton, which was effective as armour against indigenous weapons.
