Silver and turquoise nugget bolo tie
Descriptions
Object Description
Navajo bolo tie from 1980s. Slider is a trapezoidal piece of silver with 9 rough shaped but polished nuggets of turquoise set in bezels. Silver balls fill in the spaces between. The edge of the cast base includes some stamped designs. Reverse is stamped with what might be "TC" in a hallmark stamp matching that of Tommy Singer. Bolo cord is very thick and heavy black leather, closes with a hook at the back of the neck. Ends of cord are decorated with elaborate silverwork, cast and overlay apparently, in geometric designs including stylized drums, and ending in squash-blossom tips.
6 cm high, 4.5 cm wide, 2 cm deep; cord 100 cm total length.
Hallmark identified in: Wright, Barton. Hallmarks of the Southwest. West Chester, PA: Schiffer Publishing Co. 1989.
