Object Description
Pictorial/Yei rug. Gray background with four yei figures with square heads in dark gold outlined in yellow with black eyes and mouths, with white arms, light brown torsos with white outline, dark gold kilts with an "apron" panel in light brown outlined in white and with white tassels, white legs and yellow feet. Each figure holds upright "feathers" in each hand, and has dark gold stripes depending from hands and elbows. There are four gold arrow heads across the bottom. Dark gold border with stepped pattern at sides of figures and a plain gold band, a white line and a darker gold band as border above and below figures. Woven with weft-wise pattern. Warp: 4-ply white wool; wefts: gray, dark gold, white, light brown and yellow natural handspun wool, probably vegetal dy[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
